The Outlaw Street Madness class sounds pretty cool but what is up with the rules? A naturally aspirated car gets to weigh a whopping 400lbs less than a power adder car. Wow this is a no brainer. That 400lb advantage is definetaly going to outweigh the 300 shot or 25psi. You should just let them run 33x16 slicks while you are at it or just give them a couple car headstart. Why would us smallblock n/a cars want to race an 800 cube chevy vega bracket car with a 500 hp shot of nitrous with 6.10 gears set up for 1/8 mile. I think a lot more racers would show up if you had a power adder and n/a class or even go as far as separating that into big block and small block categories. You would get a lot more entries for sure. Why 1/8 mile? This isnt Super Chevy Showdown bracket racing. If I wanted to race 1/8 mile I would go to Bean Blossom. Switch the 8.5 tire to 10.5 and run quarter mile.:) I am sure plenty of people agree right? Sorry to be so blunt but I think the rules are a bit ridiculous. It is a great idea but needs a little more thought.

I think you are referring to the 8.5 class? We chose these rules because another local series runs almost identical rules with alot of success! Check out the other thread about the 8.5 class & 1/8th mile, everyone seems pretty happy to me. Also, we will make adjustments if we feel one combo is clearly dominating, or another is at a disadvantage they cant work out of. Why 1/8th mile? Because that is what alot of cars in this area are setup for with this type of racing. If we went 1/4 mile with it, they would have to change their setups each week for each series, making it harder on them & i can bet we'd have less of a car count if we did. We are just getting all this started so there are bound to be things we can improve on, and if we can get some more backing then sure we may add another class or even 2. We are taking things one step at a time to see how things fly. No worries on being blunt, it is good to hear what everyone is thinking, whether it be pro or con :)

Now, now 306coupe... remember, those guys with those big blocks,
nitrous/turbo set-ups will still have the challenge of trying to put it to
the ground with 8.5" of tread..... :)
I do however find it a little odd that there's only a 400 lb. weight
penalty for a small block nitrous assisted car vs. a small block naturally
aspirated car... and then, 200 lb. weight penalty for a big block N/A car vs. a small block N/A car...
They almost put that much of a weight penalty
for F/S cars using GT40 heads vs. stock E7's....
(maybe it's only 250 lbs... I forget... )
But, the power level of this class is much different than
that...
Needless to say, I'll be surprised to see very many naturally aspirated
combinations out there... just for the simple fact you can throw on a
power adder, add most, if not all that weight to the back, and have another 100-250hp on hand....
The turbo combinations will be the ones to watch out for if you
ask me... especially if they are able to monitor boost and bring it in
gradually...
Time will tell....
I say "Good Luck" to the new class/series....
Should be fun to watch....:p

Are you planning on adding any other classes? I did not realize this was going to be like osca or nmra with all the big guys racing. I thought it was more for anyone to come down and do some heads-up racing for fun in classes with simple bolt ons.;)

i havent seen alot of people complaining about the rules, i for one have changed my schedule, and will try to race true street instead of chasing a series around the country. and as far as 1/8 mile, i think its a good idea, just like was stated in a previous post, faster program, quicker clean up, and easier on parts. i know the people running this program, and i can definetly say they did not just throw these rules together. well, i think im done rambling.

Currently we have 3 classes, Pro Outlaw (Outlaw 10.5), True Street, and Outlaw 8.5. The payouts are 2k, 2k & 400$ respectively. If things go well this year i would like to maybe add in a class for just n/a combos next year. Something kind of like you suggested, where basically someone with a nice "street" car could compete. But first i would like to see how things go with what we have :D

Sorry to hijack this thread, but if you're interested in a N/A series, although I'm not sure where you are located, check out this series on the east coast.
www.ramracing.us You'll find the rules and such on the right side along with a bulletin board.
Three classes, Drag Radial, 10.5 tire (non-W) and a Pro class.
Drag Radial is on a 275/60 tire and they have been as fast as 9.30's.
