C4s are not allowed.

I do not know why. Probably because they are too cheap and durable.

WFC did allow C4s last year in their version of Pure Street, but NMRA still refuses to allow them.

I think P/S should be a manual transmission class anyway.

well I think it should be allowed. In both Pure Street and Factory Stock!......Even it if carried a weight penalty. AOD's are more profitable for vendors thru higher prices, higher profits on parts sales, and converter sales. Personally I think the AOD is a piece of overweighted junk!.........I'd rather run a manual personally, but if I had to run a automatic I'd rather run a C-4 20:1 over a over priced AOD!
just my two cents!:D

Quoted "personally I think the AOD is a piece of overweighted junk!".........LOL..Tell that story to Tom Payne & Rich Groh....Both are former W/C who won the class with an AOD and rich won F/S with an AOD to.

say what you want, but any knows a C-4 is much quicker and lighter than a AOD, the advantage the AOD has is with the lock up plus they probably had $3500 in their transmisisons or more, Tom Payne and Rich both are certainly top quality when it comes to racing......no doubt there.... But what if they would have had a lightweight built C-4's? .....(Well, look ke there,) I answered my own question......basically the guys with the winning AOD had good connections or spent the (sack of ) money to make the AOD work. Anyone could build a FAST C-4....now that wouldn't be any fun now would it.....if everyone ran fast....plus that wouldnt do much in the area of selling AOD part's either. But I'm sure you have noticed the upward rising of C-4 prices in the past few years as well. You use to be able to buy a good built C-4 for less than $800............now those prices have soared to above $12-13 hundrend. But with those prices....there are better parts, and developing those parts isn't cheap I'm sure.
But don't kid yourself........as you can still take a $350 convertor in both a C-4 and AOD, throw in another $350-450 in the trans and a C-4 in the same application car will SMOKE a AOD. These are however just my opinion's and you know what they say about opinions....:D

If the C4 was allowed it would have to have a penalty due to it being a better trans for racing over any of the sticks allowed and is more consitent.......but I dont think is what this class was meant to be.....and btw....a true C4....and there is only one (DYNAMIC) is more like $2,200......and now they have the "X6" upgrade that most of us Renegade guys run with C6 shaft and pump & etc......run even higher in price.........

a true C4....and there is only one (DYNAMIC)

I fully agree. Harold Miller and crew at Dynamic are top notch. And if I were to run one it would be nothing but a Dynamic....The prices on the dynamic have risen as well over the last several years. But as stated before with research and better parts ...the price should go up..

"X6" upgrade that most of us Renegade guys run with C6 shaft and pump & etc......run even higher in price.........

I wasn't up to snuff on the newest "X6" deal. That sounds good, Not sure you could get a C-6 pump and shaft in a C-4 case......but if you say so....I guess they modified it somehow...

that could be true, it may not be the intent of the class. Stick cars are funner to watch anyway.:D

Yes a host of Renegade cars (Mike Post, Bob Kurgan, Swill, some others) run this new upgrade of the Mighty Mite M2....(X6)...alot of guys where snapping input shafts and DYNAMIC came up with a solution to this problem.......they change the splines in the converter and change the pump and the shaft all to C6.....using their TCT C4 converter.....its well worth it to heavier cars such as mine was in 05 weighing 3380lbs with me in it....that can be hard on the little C4.........but it can handle alot of power to be so small.......half the size of an AOD which i ran on the street for yrs.......I wish i went C4 along time ago

I have read all your opinions on this for the last week. Now it's time I have my say. I have been building ford transe's before some of you have been born. The c4 is a good trans. But not for a high torque motor. There are a lot of good parts out there for that trans. But bottom line the drums and cluthes are to small and still burn up easy. Also the out put shaft is to small.
Now the AOD was not a real good trans when it came out. It had it,s problems. I think the bigest problem was that you couldn't drive it in OD
at 90 mph for to long. you would burn out the planet and smoke the od band. The hydraulics in the direct clutch is weak also (3rd) gear. But in my opinion the aod is stronger than a c4.
But I also agree with you guys that say that it would be nice to use a c4 in pure street. I would do it! if I could. Only for one reason. Becouse the Aod robs much more horse power from the motor than a c4. About double.
Now this is my opinion NMRA! Let us use a c4 or give the aod a weight brake like about 75lb. Or just make it a stick class only. I think Rich Grohs show that he put on in B.G. proves my theory. He goes from 10:60s to 10:20s.Buy puting a stickin his car. If that's not proof what is.
If the class goes to stick only.No problem! Amy can shift with the best of them.I had to teach her how to use a compition auto shifter. The girl was born with a stick in her hand as was I. We went with the auto becouse of the durabilty of the AOD. Ours has not missed a beat. Well I have had my say. See you guys and gals in Bradenton. Mike
