Just curious to see what some of the guys that like these new rules think the fastest cars in factory will be running ?

I think they will be around 11.70-80's.

I don't see a whole lot of change for the pushrod cars. I think all of those that predicted high 11's will be surprised. I'm not racing, but I don't think it will be an 11.80-90 class.

Just speaking from my experience and car. 12.0-12.2 will be easy. Last year my car ran 12.2@110 in full 2006 F/S trim. The only thing I need to change is the spool and I don't think that will hurt ETs.
Those times were run in August with no suspension tuning (1.80 sixtys) and a driver with no seat time.
The bottom end of the engine is totally stock. Stock bore and factory rotating assembly. The heads have been done locally and have steel retainers. Nothing exotic or expensive. Cost about $1000 to have done with valves, springs, retainers and labor.
The times were repeatable, not a 1 time best. So I figure with a bettering of the 60' and the MPH 12.0 flat or a tiny bit better are not out of the question. This is not a purpose built car by any stretch.
A purpose built 5.0 should run 11.70s with no problems.
Do I like the new rules? Yep
Will I make a couple of races? Yes
Can't follow the tour just yet. (Finances)
Sandman (Ken), talk Carlos into MG and Atco with the Trooper. We have a nice rivalry that needs to be sorted out.;)

12.50's!!! Then maybe I could outrun somebody!! Seriously though, don't be surprised to see 11.60's or high 11.50 something out of a couple of cars. Maybe I can hit an 11 in NMRA competition.

as soon as someone runs 11.50-11.60's, NMRA will change the rules to slow them down. they wouldn't make these drastic of changes and still allow those times. i believe they are gonna get this class back into the 12's. it may take some time, but i believe that's what is going on.

5.0 = 11.60s-80s (same as last years average)
2V = 11.90s
3V = 12.2 (Justins best ET, dont think we'll see an all out 3V yet)
4V = 11.50s (If Shawn runs)
Results should be similar to last years.
Really 11.90's.:confused: I would think a 2v will run a tad better since I was running
12.0s with a car that wasn't maxed and bad 60ft times and now we will be adding a good amount of power with the ported heads and other stuff without really changing anything else in the car except getting the suspension dialed in.....(wow that was a run on sentence)...lol

Rey I really am only making a guess at what the 2 valve will run not really ever building a factory stock 2 valver and much less racing a 2 valve mustang in any kind of competition but only getting my guestimate from machinists who have tested the 2 valve heads after porting them and hearing how they really dont have the cams to make use of the head work so my assumption comes solely from word of mouth and would honor your input much more than any hear say I have recieved.
(Now "THAT" was a "HUGE" run-on sentence) Merry Christmas everyone

Real close to the times they are running right now. It will just cost more and you will see alot more breakage.

I think if done properly the 2V could run better than that. If I were starting fresh building a car for F/S, thats what I'd build.

Agreed.
I think a purpose built 2V under the new rules could go that fast or faster. We'll have to see if someone wants to spend the money to find out though.
