I am done....Engine is sold and has been picked up. The new rules look like they favor every other combination except what I was running anyways.
If the payouts aren't increased, you guys are juts wasting your time and must only be doing for fun. I am not doing it for fun and I was trying to make a living, now the time has come to get a new job. Thanks for hanging out with us and making it fun when it was, we as a team have enjoyed getting to know you people and may still be at a few races to watch and maybe get in Tuten's way. hehehe.
Good Luck to each of you and I hope all of you have very safe travel to and from and also down the tracks.

We may actually build something to run at WFC this year. We haven't done that in a while due to the rules favoring the FFW series, but now that we have time, we may do that one race.
I probably wont spray it, but I would like to spool it up at some point.
Truestreet/wildstreet would be fun...........

We don't always see eye-to-eye Gene, but you're one hell of a racer, and the series will be lacking with your departure.
Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

I stand corrected I found this post from Bob Cosby over on HC50 board reference the BG event. I think a 10:29 in P/S says EFI is far from being run off
1% of 311 is 3.11. That would mean that 314 cid is "ok" for a rule of 311 cid. I remember Robin Lawrence getting dq'd on .2 cc's back in 2001, and I know there are other instances of folks being just over the edge. Those are the rules, and knowing Thom, I'm sure he measured, remeasured, and then measured again. In the end, for something that is as cut and dried as a mechanical limit/measurement, there has to be clearly defined point that cannot be crossed. Not "barely" crossed, or crossed "just a little", but not crossed at all.
Sucks for Rich regardless. EVERYBODY'S jaw dropped when the scoreboard lit up with a 10.29 @ 131. I think he made his point quite effectively. The guy knows his way around a 5.0.

Gene,
I have got to say that I was shocked when we talked on the phone yesterday and you told me that you where hanging it up. Afterall if it weren't for you and your brother, I probably wouldn't be Heads-Up racing. It was back in '98 that I called your brother to find out the details about a little known class called, "Trophy Stock". He gave me all the details and encouraged me to bring my car to Bradenton and give it a try. Needless to say, I was hooked and felt that I could never return to brakcet racing after that. You guys have always been there for me, no matter what I needed; air tanks, food, advise, moral support.....whatever. And never asked for anything in return. I love you guys like brothers and will solefully miss seeing ya'll at the races. I will also miss the David Allen Coe sing alongs and the uhm Mardi Gras bead parties at the trailer. Shocked as I was, I understand why you are stopping and I respect your decision. You are not alone in your feelings about pay. I have said it before and will say it again here, It's ashame that skateboard punks get paid more than we do. If there is ever a Ford Racing Heads-Up Hall Of Fame, I'm sure both of you will be in it. Take car and God bless both of you on your new endeavors.:)

I ain't buying it :D Here is a guy who hasn't missed an NMRA event in the last what 4 years, and now just going to hang it up? Gene you are to much of a competitor, and it runs in the blood, and that firery attitude isn't going to let you sit on the sidelines, you like to compete to much.
But if you are serious, then I wish you well, but if I do not see Gene Hindman's name on the qual sheet at bradenton, then I will start to believe, until then, the jury is still out.

Gene...Why don't you just run on a limited schedule like we're doing this year(4 races) Atleast you don't have to spend so much money and you can be home more often.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I really appreciate all the supporters and even the non supporters. lol
But seriously, We sold the engine and promised the person that purchased it that we would not race for atleast one year in NMRA Pure Street. I don't even own a Throttle Body (of any size) or a Power Pipe anymore, that's how much I let the buyer have. So, to go racing would cause us to have to spend more money and that's what we are trying to prevent.
Plus if you guys didn't notice, The NMRA threw a new weight break in there in the rules for the AOD, and we all know what the carb has been capable of for years now.

Good luck with your new future Gene and thanks again for the help you gave me early on in Pure Street (letting me borrow your back-up computer in MG a few years ago). Maybe down the road we'll both be back running the same class again....

Good Luck With The New Job Gene! I Could'nt Agree With You More, Nmra Needs To Step Up The Program, It's Hard Enough To Try To Do This As A Hobby, Let Alone Make A Living At It! Although, You Sure Did Give It A Good Try.
