I heard Carlos was the talk of the night?? :D

He was the only one to not know there was 4 steps to get on stage and not three.

I was suprised to see James Lawrence not in a full suit of body armor :D

How come 4 modular guys and only 2 pushrod guys showed up at the awards?

Congrats again to Shawn, Jeff, Carlos, Dennis and John. It was good seeing you guys again.

I couldn't make it, wish I was there.....If the rules don't vary from the Pre-lims, we should see mostly pushrods next year at the award banquet......

right behind the 2v ................

:D

Funny how alot of the pushrod guys seem to be happy that the 4V's were neutered. But they will be surprised when someone builds a serious 2V under the new rules. The question is, when will it happen. I'm sure Rey's gears are turning but I'm not sure what his time frame is. Any rumors of other 2V's in the works?

seems to me that the pushroders were neutered all of last year! With the exception of Jamie Holtens single win. 16 of 16 4V had fastest qualifying, and won 15 of 16 events. That to me seemed a little one sided.
none the less.........this year should be more even or so it seems. I'm personally glad the 2V's can finally come out and play. If a guy builds a 2V and wins a race. I would say congrats!

Pushrod cars were never neutered by rule changes...
There has not been any rule changes to help the 4 valves run better...
Jamie Holten has had his program running strong for years now and I would like to here from him about his opinion.
Jamie was strong in Florida but didn't get a chance to show during the season...

Why don't you guys get in touch with him and ask him if he was at the end of his potential.....

The 2v mods have been at a disadvantage….

We will see what the NMRA finally comes up with… I know from the PRI show that there are a lot of unhappy sponsors talking to the NMRA about the changes to the FS class as well as drivers….

OH... I can get it HANDLED now.....

With all due respect, That means the initial rules were uneven.
They had no idea back then what a 4v could do with some work.

Just as an example,
What was the original cc rule for the heads?
58cc for pushrods and 42cc for 2v/4v

With pre-rules it sure does look like the 2V has an advantage. But, it is going to take a purpose built 2V to win. IMO.....Just like it took a purpose built 5.0 to be competitve against a somewhat streetable 4V; ie radio, A/C, heat, etc, BOB'S CAR!!! (2004). I would love to build a 2V, jeez I already have an engine builder ready to go....but the cost of building another "racecar" will still be in the $20-30 range...I also just dumped more money in my car last season....Good luck to whoever builds a 2V racecar, it will take one to beat a 5.0 next season, a street car will not do it.....Like I said, IMO

I am still thinking about just taking next season off to build a 2V, but I have put myself in a position to really have a shot at giving Team JPC another championship next season within the current rules.........there is alot of guys in our class that should think they have a shot at the championship, it is going to be tuff next season. I think we will see some great racing with the new rules....I sure wish I was able to go to the PRI show to discuss this in person with everybody. I have to build a new shortblock for my car...but I could easliy build a 2V for the same amount of money.....BUT I would have to build an new car!!! I could just transfer alot of parts from the 5.0 to a cheap SN95, I have actually already found a cheap donor car, but then I have a useless stripped foxbody sitting on jackstands......

I agree...the 4V guys have come into their own. They (like Shawn as well as other's) from what I've seen have worked hard to get the 4V cars to run well. No doubt about that. I'm not trying to take anything away from them personally as drivers. Jamie Holten's car has always ran well....He is a good racer no doubt. He dig's deep to find every thing that his combo can do, and obviously many other's do too, I just have happened to know of jamie holten a lot longer than I have anyone else currently in FS.....And like I said I'm not taking away from the drivers, but the facts are facts. The 4V cars won 15 of 16 races and qualified 16 for 16 races......that tells me something right there. I'm not exactly a new comer, I've tried to keep up with FS for several years now. (about 6 years) Just not extremely close. But from what the results showed last year it looked like an advantage over the pushrod engines to me.
I do know that this is one of the most awsome classes out there. People in this class have had the drive to dig very deep within the science of the combo's and come out with something exceptionally fast, even when some people said it couldn't be done. That in itself speaks huge volumes about it's racers.....
I really don't have a say about any of the rules anyway. I'm just a rookie! :) looking for a few 1/4 miles of fun. But as far as the rules are concerned, I do think the alum flywheels should be allowed, and the antil sway bars by wolf, or whomever and last but not least, I think that spools should be allowed.

I also think if a guy wanted to run stock E7's he should not only get a weight break but also be allowed to port them!
and that stock short blocks should be issued out by NMRA with sealed oil pans, timing chain covers..........as to not allow any tinkering with the bottem ends...........

with that said........flame suit is on! :)
