I have been very quite on this board and also have not been able to compete for the last two years, one year for fixing the car after a terrible crash into guard rail after wheel stand and last year got married and started the first home marriage thing. None the less, I use to race Renegade in 2002 and 2003 and over the last two seasons I have been keeping up with the NMRA Renegade class and have spent an enormous amount of time, money and R&D with my engine builder Cory Roth (Hot Street racer) of Fox Lake, my Nitrous tuner and designer and have obtained some quality sponsors for 2006, NGK, Magna-Flow, Fox-Lake, NOS and Applied Nitrous Technology. I now have my entire new combo set and ready, as we almost brought the car to 2005 Bowling Green finals but decided to wait till Bradenton 2006. Now you guys decide to change the rules again!! This is terrible and makes no sense. Looking back, Renegade was supposed to be cars that were borderline street/strip, without arguing that case, I understand the classes grow, etc. but each year it is tough to afford and be competitive as well as make all the events, why is it you guys change rules, dramatically EVERY YEAR? I finally get the car to run mid to high eights consistently so I can compete and here we go changing rules and allowing big motors in the class with more weight brakes. This is aweful, now I guess I am suppose to build another $15,000 short block with heads that work with cubes and re-configure the whole car just because the nitrous car count is down. Have you guys ever thought that nitrous guys don’t need more you guys just give too much to blower guys. Why should the nitrous cars have to keep making changes and spending more money on new combos because of rule changes, hell, that’s part of the reason the blower guys are consistent, THERE RULES HARDLY EVER CHANGE! Now here I am stuck with this awesome new combo based on the rules as they have been and I may have to do something totally different. Leave the rules alone for nitrous cars please, I mean I understand build a car to fit your rules but at the cost of these cars how can you expect a guy to make those drstic changes to their combo, time, and wallet is very unreasonable. I have run 8.70’s in testing with only a 200 on first stage and 150 on second and that is at 3120 lbs. not the 2900 lb rule, another change done every year. My cry is simple, I am eager to get back in the class and have fun, NO I understand I am not the baddest guy out there, I have not even raced in two years, and I respect deeply all the leaders in the class as I understand how hard they have worked and much intellect is involved with these guys, (Kurgan, Swill, Gallant, Post, etc) hats off to them, but some of us would like to be that good some day and with drastic rule changes like adding complete cubic changes like this do not make sense and is very unfair to the average guy, after all everyone was an average guy once and we all have budgets so please leave rules as they were in 2005, after all that was the most competitive season we have all seen, everyone is so close, does that not tell to leave rules alone! Thanks for time and ears!! Please consider!! Jeff Wright REN #4052

Hey Jeff, long time no talk. Hope all is well....your combo got another weight break right, so I guess I'm not seeing how these rules are so bad for you? Can you not get that light? Are you mad because you would have built a 400ci motor had you known this change might happen? The blower rules really didn't change. I'm assuming you're working on a 360 (or less) combo....I say try it anyway. You know how hot it was last summer? The fastest any blower car could go in the heat was mid-to-high 8.7's. A good running 360ci nitrous car near 2900lbs would dominate in that scenario.

Give us more details man....I see you posted on the NMRA board too. Maybe they'll read it and take your opinion into consideration. Keep in mind those rules are preliminary. In past years, NMRA as proposed drastic changes that have gotten everyone worked up and then not gone through with them. I think they're just trying to gage our reactions to the CI/N2O increase. If you don't like it, then you should prob. follow the procedures and email tech@nmraracing.com and let them know. Posting on the net doesn't count. I know it's hard not to get worked up though, I know I used to....

Hey Swill guys, very much congradulations to all of you for a well deserved championship. Champions are easily defined and you guys certainly are just that! It is very difficult to do this, especially as a hobby, and to work as hard as you guys have over the years and especially for not giving up earns much respect!! Great job!! As far as the rules, I am not really mad, I don't have a right to be mad I haven't raced in a while and understand my voice is small, but in trying to be humble the new rules just don't make sense and I thought I would speak in hopes of them leaving the rules alone. Watching ou guys last year was great and seemed very fair and competitive. Yes it does bother me, I just finished everything on the car(except the weight) and now they want to add cubes to the n2o cars. Anyone starting fresh and had the choice would certainly build the big motor for that weight difference. I could ad 80lbs to the car as it sits and add another 52 cubes to the car not to mention the torgue vs. rpm aspect of that kind of motor. A 400 cube engine with a spyder type intake and a two stage at 3200 lbs vs. my 331 based 348 ci Dart motor with edelbrock 5.0 intake at 3120 lbs-BIG DIFFERENCE!! I am not sure what to do, I really want to race this year as the car is very ready and my wife is all for it so that has really got me excited to hang out race and have fun with you guys in 2006. Any way sorry so long just ramblin', great talkin' to you guys, appreciate the response and polite concern, take care and maybe the rules will stay the same so we can play to!
