Who makes a thicker head gasket than the Fel-pro 1011-2 .039 compressed that i'm using now...I need more P/V clearance i'm finding out.... I don't want a copper type gasket...
Thanks

I just put some Motorsport Graphite gaskets on, and I think they are .050. The Catalog say's different, but I know what I measured...
otherwise you'll probaly have to run a custom Cometic. I know you can get atleast .060 with those.
Is a head gasket really going to make or break your set up??? How much clearance do you have?

Scott the thickness of the head gasket is important. Becouse it will change the compression ratio if the gasket dosen't match the same ones you took of the heads. Best thing to use the same part number you took off. mike

I realize the change in compression. I was refering to the difference between bending valves, and not bending valves...

Mike..i was thinking that the extra clearance"thickness" of the head gasket might give me that clearance i need...It seem to be just some small nicks where the exhaust valve(s) hit the pistons...i was gonna go from a .039 to a .047 in gasket thickness to get room....My compression is at 11:3.1 with the 1011-2 on the car now...What would it be if i went to the different gasket?

How did you come up with this number???

That's the ratio that i have Perky....That's were it sit's now...You don't have that compression in your bullet?

Damn I must need a new way to figure this out......
just wondering what numbers you used to come up with that... PM me if you don't want to display.. just curious

Your compression ratio would be at11.1 to1 if you went to a 0,10 thicker gasket. problem is 0.45 is the thickest out there. you may have to go to cooper. Big bucks, mike hoppa

Did you check your spring pressure? Valve float from weak springs could be the problem. I missed a gear and found out the hard way :(

Scott...that's how my piston looks where the valve hit...Were you able to get the ding out of the piston? I had Randy from PER check everthing saturday and the springs are still nice and strong.

Every Piston looked like the one in the pic. I didn't worry about getting the ding out. I just deburred any sharp edges and bolted the heads back on. (after replacing springs & 8 bent valves) It went 12.11 @ 111.2 at the Columbus event.
