We did go. It was a long trip. Up for about 27 hours. Hard on someone Ollie's age. Only four cars in 8.5. Rain really made it a long day. Big turn out.
Car ran well. Had our best ET ever. MPH was also good. Owner error cost us a good shot at the win. But, Craig Watson put down some good numbers with his Nova. He had a best of 5.67. He ran 5.73 in the finals. I put David just outside the groove and we did not hook. Ran 6 flat. :(

Nice track. Very similiar to Hardinsbirg. Huge car counts and fan base. An easy 2000+ spectators at $20 each and the concession stands ran out of everything. Even without the small 1 1/2hr rain delay it would have been a late night. We ended up leaving at 2:30 a.m central time and some of the finals weren't finished. Rain was starting to come down. Not sure if they finished or not. We' had a good day and things were fine until Art put on one of his lucky Hawiian shirts, but later we found out it was an immitation Purtorican shirt. :D He line me up a little out of the groove, but we learned from it the hard way. Craig ran well and it would have taken a flawless pass to beat his 5.73. Hats off to him on his win.

Well guys congrats on your runner-up. Did they make full payout with only 4 cars? What happened to all the Kentucky and Tenn. Outlaw 8.5 racers? The Ohio Drag Racers will be running your class at their race on August 31st. Jason

Yep, they had full pay out. May have been only 4 cars in our class, but there were plenty of other cars and the crowd was large-2-3,000 people. Concession stands (one on each side of the track) sold out of all food.
The other 8.5 racers didn't make it for a variety reasons. Fuel costs, Tracy Johnson doesn't have car completely dialed in, Robert Hollingsworth hurt his motor on the dyno, Gerald Boyd had other plans, the Cox boys and Vernon still working on getting the car dialed in, etc.
