Why is there a 450 pound difference in this class between n/a small block and nitrous small block when there is only 400 lbs in "extreme street"?

That is a lot of weight to give.

Not sure i understand why you asked this. 8.5 and XS are two completely different classes with very different rules. Thats like saying why are apples red and oranges, well orange :D

I know they are two different classes. But, one would think, the nitrous motors in the XS class would make more HP then an 8.5 motor. Yet 8.5 is spottin more weight to a N/A combo then the XS car does in its class.

Anyway, 450 pounds is a hell of a lot of weight to spot a competitor on such a small tire. Yes, we can up HP with a bigger shot but, you can only use so much on a smaller tire.

If the N/A XS car makes more than an N/A OL 8.5 car then in theory alone the 8.5 deserves a bit more of a weight reduction. Hence the 50lb difference. So i think you kinda cancelled yourself out with the first comment lol.

But i understand what you were trying to say in that you think 450lbs being the difference between an N/A 8.5 car and a NOS 8.5 car is too much on a small tire. But the tire makes the class. Its up to everyone who chooses to run their combo to figure out how to get it down track. So far i have seen a fairly good parity between those 2 combos, and with the possibility of a turbo car or two this year, id like to see how things shake out. If an adjustment needs to be made, it will be for next years rules. UNLESS the competition is SO maxxed out with the N/A combo that i feel it does need some help this year. But i do not like to make major rule changes mid-season. It has killed many classes and other Orgs by doing that and i just dont agree with it. People sometimes need time to figure out their combo and a hasty rules change only hurts, not helps.
