Has anyone heard if they are going to approve MT drag radials for the 2006 season or not? I don't run but 1 or 2 races a year and I don't want to have to buy a set of tires just for 1 or 2 races. THanks for any info.JEff

I highly doubt it. There has been so much bitching about these tires, and I don't know why. I think they (NMRA) just want to really limit this class to a tuning class, where the suspension will make or break a run. This is a great idea to keep everyone in the mix-up for points and wins, but a terrible idea for the safety of the drivers. If you can understand the idea of a outlaw car on street tires, that's what it is going to be in a very short time. With the advances in technology to improve engines and drivetrains, you should allow the tires to support it. Just my .02, thought it was just common sense.

THanks for the reply. I can really see both sides. You would think they would want the best for the racers but just like SSO there has to be something to make it harder and more even between racers. But going by their rules it states that it has to have a treadwear rating of 180 or higher but if I remember right doesn't BFG's have a rating of 0?

yes, both the m/t and the bfg's have a treadware rating of 0. I didn't realize that that was stated in the rules. I have had both tires and know from experience that these 2 tires are from completely different planets, there is really no comparision between the two. The M/T's are amazing!!!!

Thanks for the reply just wondering. Those are my thoughts to on the M/T. I know with no tune and 275/60 I have ran low 10's at 134 puling the front wheel.

my car with a wacked out tune was doing 11 ohs on a 235/65/15. it was a fun ride for the first 110 feet I was only pulling off 1.68 short times, but it was nuts leaving the tree on those tiny tires.

Hey guys,
I'm about to order some drag radials. Not sure if I should go with the BFG's, Nitto's or the ET street radials. The Nitto's would be a smaller diameter (27.8) and an 11.1 sectional on an 8" rim. I don't know the width of the tread. Also, they last longer but take forever to heat up. The BFG's have an 8.8" contact width that's on an 8" rim. It's also at 28" tall and has an 11.1 section width. The ET's have an 8.9" contact width with an 11.3 sectional width and are 28" tall.
I run a 10 inch rim with 6.5 bs. I would like to know what the sectional width and tread width becomes on a 10" rim. I've seen alot of the drag cars here with these size tires. I really haven't seen many Fox GT's with full ground effects running a 28" DR tire. I have ET Drag's now that fit well but I need a tire that doesn't bubble out when rotating at high RPM's, stick real well and last at least 20-25 trips down the strip and about 2000 street miles a year.
All these tires have good sectional sizes but will any of them expand taller with RPM's and will they all fit a fox GT with full plastics? That damned front and rear plastic is rubbing on higher RPMs and I don't even have new tires. Does anyone have pics of the wheels not on the car? On the car with clearance on the ground effects?
I'm ready to buy but don't know which and if they'll all fit.
Thanks guy's
Dave

Are you want to stay with a 28 inch tall tire? I have MT drag radials on mine with a 15x10 rim but they only have 5.5 inch backspacing. The tread is about even with the rear lip on the fender. I didn't have any problem with rubbing at all but I do have air bags in both side. Email with your email address and I will try to get you some pics. Jeff Jsanborn17@comcast.net

325/50 with a 10 inch 6.5 bs, massage the inner fender and roll the outer lip. if your not class racing (ie. nmra) go with the mickeys

How much massaging to you have to do to get the 325's under the finder because I would like to go with the 325 but with building a new motor I would rather not have the extra expense of a mini tub? THanks for the input

ive found every car is different, just keep checking for tire rub as you massage it. just remember, have the suspension loaded when you check
