drive to attend the races? I figured today was a slow day at my office so I would open my Microsoft Streets and Trips and figure out some driving times.

According to Microshafts program.... I spend approxiamately 140 hours in my truck going to and from events.

Now, imagine what kind of vacation time your going to need off work to make that happen!

Imagine what some businesses lose by not having key people there...

I burn up most of my vacation going to races. One of these years I'm gonna have to take Sherrie on a real vacation.

Geez... no idea.

I don't even want to know.

I live in south florida. So just to get to Bradenton, it's about a 3 hour drive through the state. Reynolds, Ga. is about a 7 hour drive. Joliet is a good 24 hour drive. UGH... I'm hiring a driver this year. LMAO

I would say 147 hours, since I'm an hour farther than you. All I know is I got my dually right before michigan. It had 53,400 miles on it, now it has 64,000. So 10,000miles 5 months

Ryan, I kinda stole your idea for my Feb. column... I spent 75 hours in the air this year, and probably another 10 on the tarmac, and another 20 driving to and from the airport to the hotel to the track. :)

I think this is something that seriously hinders the sport. Well, cash is what seriously hinders it but cash is what moves everything.....

no work, no cash
no cash, no fuel
no fuel, no attend
no attend, no race
no race, no press
no press, no sponsors
no sponsors, no parts
no parts, no race
no race, no wins
no wins, no cash
etc.....

you get the idea.

I will be glad to see my idea posted... steal on.....

You're dead on right. Travel costs have really affected things in a bad way.

I thought it was bad when I was spending around $300 an event in 2003. When I hear about you guys going super econo and still spending a grand or more, I cringe.
