At this time the schedule is not set in stone. There are many factors yet to be determined. What i can say is we have been talking with a few other tracks about the possbility of having OSM races in other areas but still within a few hours of the Cincinnati area.
April 7th 2007
May 5th 2007
June 2nd 2007
June 30th 2007
August 4th 2007
This would leave late August and September as backup for possible rain dates or other conflicting race dates. Please keep in mind that these dates are tentative and based on what we can work out with the track(s) and other commitments we may have for next year. We are also working on some rules changes for next year & hope to have those up as soon as possible. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up! :)
Thanks!
Kelly

Have you seen where OVOS is turning the 8.5 class into an index class?

You guys do know that running a DR will only make it harder to get down track even with the little bit bigger tire patch? They may hold up a bit longer than the slick but not by much. What about those M&H's? Also, having a DR will kill the intent of the 8.5 class. Might as well start over with a brand new class if we are going to add the DR. And, at this time we do not have the money to field 4 classes nor do i want two classes that are so similar.....There are some people that do not want this class changed as well.....still thinking.....

Please don't do what they are doing we can go anywhere and bracket race, thats pretty much the same thing, racing the clock not the guy next to you.

Dont worry we will not be doing that to 8.5, it will remain a true heads up class :) The possibility of adding a 7.50 index is still there as an addition to the series. But 8.5 will remain heads up.

I think people are well aware of how hard it will be to get down the track. Everyone needs to keep in mind that this class only existed for a total of about 3 years. When people went in the 5's, they started to see the tires give up more frequently. As for the one person who liked the 8.5 tire, to be quite honest with you, he has not run 8.5 long enough to realize that its not the tread that wears out, its the side walls. NOS cars hit them harder than I do.

So maybe what we need to do is slow the class down another way, not by the tire, to prevent people from having to change so often. I also believe there is more than one person that would like to keep the class the way it is. Another reason the sidewall is wearing out sooner is because you guys are stretching the tire on a 10" rim. This is noticably causing them to "buldge" even when sitting still. As you said, the class has not been around very long, and its only our first year with the class. Its easy for everyone to thrown out ideas about how things should be, but it is harder to have to impliment them in a fair manner. NMRA Drag Radial is a very different class than 8.5...something else to think about.

M/T recommends +- 1" of the tire width, so I dont think the 10" wheel is the issue. I think its really just the heavy weights, and a short side wall that kills them.
Kelly, Is their some other reason you are wanting to make a change to the class, are is this all just an inquire?

Honestly i dont feel any changes are needed at this time. I think the class is doing pretty well here in our first year. This discussion got started because Tim brought up the inquiry about the DR tire & i told him and anyone else i am up for listening. So i am discussing it :D

Quite alright Tim, it happens all the time lol. As for the original topic of this thread, guess no one can really comment on it because it is so early yet. Most will have to see what everyone else is doing before they can say if they like this schedule or not.

Well if you guys want to have a peddlefest i'm game but it seems silly to me to spend all that money to build a car and then slow it down a half second to save a few hundred bucks.IMO

I would say the dates are fine. I think people a getting used to the first Saturday of the month race day. Its easy to remember.
If you felt you had to make a change, I am 100% for the drag radial. But If you feel you dont want any changes, I will back you 100% also.

Ditto .
This is/was a suggestion to try and bring a larger car count to the OSM. Have something new that none of the other organizations offer. If people want "cookie cutter"...lets "cookie cutter" away ! I am on my 4th set of tires this year...and its not because the tread is worn out either.
As far as being a peddelfest, I have to pull timing to get my car to hook now as it is, thats usually the case when I lose. I see drag radials along that same line but more of a challenge.

8.5 is no longer cookie cutter.... the Valley is getting rid of 8.5 in favor of an index class, and OSCA's Mild Street is not the same as 8.5. So we would be the only ones to keep 8.5 at this point.
See you all in 2 weeks :)

I like the 8.5 and the drag radial as long as it is not a BFG drag radial, I would rather run MT drag radials. Thanks Jason Brunck

From my understanding, the 6.0 or 6.50 class is still headsup, first to the finish line, you just cant run faster than whatever cap they put on the class. So if you think you need to hit the brakes, you better make sure you have enough lead on the guy next to you. Thats just the way I took it.
