F/S death toll Bradenton/Reynolds
Steve Gifford. 1 clutch/Flywheel, 1 G Force T-5, 1 clutch, 1 Ring/Pinion, 1 G Force T-5
Jeff Schmell. 3 clutches/Flywheels, 1 G Force T-5, 1 driveshaft yoke,1 Clutch /Flywheel
Brian Marr 1 Clutch, 1 3650 TREMEC Did not compete at Reynolds..
I may be speaking out of turn, I think Shawn is on his fourth clutch, and also had rear end damage.
Thats over $18,000 in breakage in the first two events.
Updated..
Shawn Johnson killed another clutch at MG in the final round.
Jeff Schmell destroyed another G Force trans testing at Milan today.
Steve Gifford decided to cut his losses and parked his brand new 4V on the engine stand following the Reynolds race. His last minute 2V combo so far has run about the same numbers as his 4V . Things were looking up for Steve, Until Fri. night. Add another G Force T-5 to the list.
The updated tally is now around $30,000 for the first three events.

You have broken almost as many parts as I have. The F/S guys are causing a shortage of 9310 gear steel.

I feel so bad for you 4v guys. I dont know how you do it. Myself, I would put the gears in I want and go play in MM or something... make it fun again

I'm sure the carnage is high, but $18,000 isn't a true to life figure.....I'm sure there is some good parts left in one of those G force T-5's left.???
but it does suck to have major breakage like that....hopefully the rest of the season won't be so hard on em.....then again maybe a pushrod car will beat em in at least one event lol

Was this new carnage with the 2v or 4v?

It was with the 2V, but was the tranny out of the 4V and I am sure was near death when we switched it over anyways.

Update:
Along with the clutch in the finals at the grove the driveshaft broke at the trans end.... trans was apart and the imput shaft needed some repair. No reverse in the trans... cann't fix till after MI... Trans making bad noise had to order another gear set for when it comes apart....
We are up to five complete clutch (plate/disk/flywheel) combos...
These are matched sets...
Still searching for just the right combo that will last..... RPS has been great working with us. We are asking for a lot out of the clutch and they are hard at work coming up with new parts to test.... Bad part is we will probably find the right combo at the end of the season...

Time to update again:
Columbus 390 gear rule cost me..
Had to buy 322 first gear T5 trans at track.
ring and pinion
will have to have another custom aluminum drive shaft made
Jeff's blue cars damage will need to be added also...

The blue car needs a gear now too, let alone a waste of money to go to the track going out first round because of breakage of same ol parts....especially when you had the guy next to you cevered..i know thats racing but the expense is getting way out of hand........
HERE IS A WINING SUGGESTION::give us gear back for the finals, they top 2 spots are 4v cars and they are only battling each other for first and second...
how about saving us some money at the end of the year and give us a gear back so we can finish a race without breaking a trans, gear drive shaft suspension and so on...let us just race the better car wins..5.0s can run in the 30's and 40's 2v showed they can run 50's probably 40's we know the 4v's can run 40's and 50's with a gear without tearing crap up...LETS make the FINALS fun for all ...

Ummmm a pushrod car has not run 30s and only ran a 40 once....when we run 40s at will and occasional 30, you can get your gear back....sorry......BTW my motor is still at the machine shop, and hope to be ready for BG....add that to your deathtoll, too...along with Mike's tranny and the two trannys that I have broke this season....

Reguradless of what u or i have run johnathon we all know what the cars should run. OK
The point is im tired of breaking sh?!t for no reason at all.. when a simple gear change will solve all of my breakage problems..
also the way my car hooks it wouldnt run no 50's or 40's it would run just the same as or close enough to the rst of the top guys..it could still come down to a light..
Give me a break.....u know what will solve this problem..
See ya

The points battle is waaaay to tight to be changing the rules going into the final. It affects way more than just the 4v.
Let's say we do give you the gear and because of it, you take out Steve first round. He would probably go from 3rd to 8th.
You still have time to throw a 2V in!

Why is your motor broke?
Why did your trans break?
Was it becuase you have a rule against your combo made to slow you down (Till others can catch up with their programs) that is breaking all that stuff over and over again??? Did the same parts break more than one time this season because of this???? If not STFU

Why did he change to a 2v again?

Yep the motor is hurt. Ran 80s before NJ, thought it was the slow 60ft, and ran 12.0s at NJ, had the heads redone, still ran 12.0s in testing......yep we, Team JPC, are breaking trans too. I broke one at GA, one at MG and one at IL, and Mike broke one at OH....hmmmm, that's 4 trans in one season, so far.....I don't think they broke any trans from 2002-2005????? I might be wrong. But I know they only changed the trans once in 04, diff 1st gear at KC, and I didn't change a trans in 05.....Yep the rule of no racebrakes, no spool and no aluminum clutches, slowed us down more than it slowed you down.....all that rotating weight; stock brakes, steel pressure plates, and etc, hurts us too.....I personally didn't ask for the cam and headers...
But don't go whinning about the rules that everybody talked about at OH for next season; 05 rules for pushrods along with the cams and headers, and give the gear back to 4Vs. I know the 4V can run 30s, seen it in 2005 competition, but I have only seen the 5.0 run a 40 once in 2006, but have not seen one run 50s, in competition. Don't think the rules makers make changes based off what a combo should run or ran at home track testing....but what it has run during competition. I am really sorry about the 3.90 gear, it is not fair that you keep breaking, it wasn't my idea, that is your combo though, maybe you should of ran a 2V. Eric is running pretty good......NMRA had to do something to have parity in the class, guess the 3.90 was a bad idea, maybe they shoud have used a restrictor plate?????........but a 4V is going to win the Championship, probably you....

I would have to kinda disagree on that statement Jonathan. I think everyone has suffered about the same from these parts. I seem to remember sometime after these rules came in afect the 5 liter guys claimed it slowed them down .4 , so with some math that would put Mike @ a 11.06. These are #s you guys where saying not me making them up. So yeah I think a 4V combo should be alowed to run at least a 4.30 gear and everyone get 05 drivetrain parts back. Then after a few races next season make some adjustments "IF" they are needed.
But, I guess this is what the meeting at BG should hopefully settle for all of us right;)

Is 11.0s what we really want for the class???? Yes, the 06 rules did slow us down 4 tenths and slowed down the 4V 2 tenths. So....my statement is correct, it slowed us down more than the 4Vs.....You don't see it that way???? I, Jonathan Paulk, did not ask for cam and headers.......

You are agreeing with Ken and the rest of us and you don't know it....
What was discussed at Oh is 05 drive train rules for everyone.. that includes gear..
Lets see the 5.0L are running atleast 50s already 2v are ruiing 50s already..
give then the drive train back .... by your math the 5.0L will run 11.10s (.50 - the .4) and the 2v will be running 30s (.50 - .2)
The 4 valves ran consistan 40s with the 05 rules so as of right now by the 5.0L guys math the 4 valves are needing MORE HELP... This will be the argument you will here at BG so get ready for it...
05 drive train rules for EVERYONE. 4v keep their heads. everything else the same...

Hey, it wasn't my idea about the new rules.....I am against them.....I am not trying to agree w/ Ken and everybody else just stating facts......but hey, didn't we agree not to discuss them on the forum????? By your math, yes the 5.0s will be in the 11.0s...uh oh and the 4v will be running 30s......sorry.....like I said not my idea....Who's idea was it??????? Might as well get some new heads and go run PS.......How much discussing about the rules is in that class????

I agree that Next year the 4V should have a min of a 4.10-4.30 Gear.
For you guys (being 4V) what Breaks More parts Gears or Weight?
in my honest Opinon the Brakes Spool Ect Slowed Everyone down equaly, i just belive the 4v guys found a better way around it, Leagally offcorse. Casue i know if all cars were locked in a closet all winter and no adjustments were made they would both Lose the same, Becasue weight is Weight no matter which was you slice it!
All i want to do is see a feild like Atco and no one breaking their $hit
Is that too Much to ask?

I saw the writing on the wall before I left.
I feel the 4v should get the gear back (doesnt make them that much faster) and it will put them back in the running with the ported heads and aftermarket cams everyone else got. Atleast for the final race. Its supposed to be fun while working hard.
